Search alert guide

How to reduce repeated eBay relisting alerts

Cleaner search criteria can reduce avoidable noise before an image filter ever becomes relevant.

Start with the words that define the item

Use the fewest positive keywords that reliably describe what you want. Add exclusions for recurring materials, brands, sizes or styles that are clearly outside your search. Review exclusions periodically: a broad negative term can hide a legitimate listing when it appears in an unexpected part of the title.

When a search supports Boolean syntax, group alternatives deliberately and keep each exclusion understandable. A long query is useful only when you can still explain why each term is there.

Narrow stable facts separately

Seller, official category, condition, listing type, location and price are often more reliable than adding another ambiguous keyword. Use them when they express a real buying constraint. Avoid narrowing simply to make the result count look smaller; over-specific criteria can remove the unusual listing you hoped to find.

Choose an alert cadence that matches the market

A faster alert is most useful for items where timing matters. A broader or slower-moving search may be easier to review at a calmer cadence. DibSearch’s planned Free and Pro alerts run every 15 minutes or slower, while the planned Hunter plan supports alerts as often as every minute. The pricing page shows the complete pre-launch plan comparison.

Know exactly what image filtering means

DibSearch’s planned MVP filter is intentionally strict. Within the same account, it can suppress a later listing from the same seller when the main photo is in the same position and the complete downloaded main-image file is byte-for-byte identical.

If the image is cropped, resized, recompressed, edited or changes by even one byte, it remains visible. A match is evidence of likely repeat inventory, not proof that two items are identical. Missing or uncertain image evidence also remains visible.

Review the search, not just the alerts

When unwanted results share a clear textual or categorical trait, improve the saved search rather than dismissing each alert individually. Reserve image filtering for the narrower problem it is designed to address: exact reuse of the same downloaded main-image file by the same seller.
